Christmas Lunch 2017
This year we had our lunch at the Royal Oak pub in Chipping Sodbury on Sunday 3rd December after an invigorating walk over to Old Sodbury church and back across fields led by Dave. We then settled into a very warm and cosy back room of the pub with a video screen showing a roaring fire! We pulled crackers, read out the awful jokes, put on paper hats and prepared to receive our meal. The food took some time in coming but when it came the main courses covered the plates from side to side and there were three or four dishes of accompanying vegetables plus the usual sauces. Unfortunately the vegetarian option was not a success but this is about par for the course (no pun intended!) for vegetarian Christmas fare in restaurants and pubs. However, the desserts made up for it and after coffee and mince pies, we all made our way home in the dark. A very pleasant early afternoon lunch and many thanks to Jackie for organising it.
A big hello from the Bath group of the Ramblers.
We organise 2 walks a week on a Sunday. One will be 5 to 6 miles long, the other between 8 and 10 miles.
We always meet in the centre of Bath just outside the Victoria Park Cafe so that we can car share to the start of our walks. For our longer walks we usually meet at 0930 and for the shorter ones at 1000. Any changes to this standard format are shown on the walks list.
The goals of our group are to promote the enjoyment of walking in the local countryside, protect the rights of way, campaign for access to open country, and to defend the beauty of the countryside.
Non members are most welcome to come on our walks and after 2 walks we would invite you to become a member of Ramblers.
We also operate a volunteer group for footpath maintenance. See the information under Path Maintenance for futher details.
If you would like to explore walking options for other groups in the area, please see the Avon Area Website where you can also see Avon Area News and other information.
We still have some copies of the Limestone Link walks booklet for sale so if you are interested, please contact our Secretary, Marilyn Wright.
